It was my vision to provide integrated logistics services to our clients. We needed a way to manage our customers and their logistics operations and modes (air, ocean, rail, intermodal, trucking, and warehousing) and be able to offer them “one-stop shipping”. Each transportation mode had its own, separate I.T. system and was not connected to the others. To accomplish this ambitious goal, I brought in Shar Javad to put together a comprehensive system. We needed to connect the systems of various carriers in different modes in order to provide visibility to our customers across their supply chain.
The first thing that Shar did was to look at our internal systems and those external systems available in the market. We purchased a base system to manage and monitor all of our transportation modes and then built in key functionality for our supply chain management. The end result was a multi-modal global system to manage our customers’ logistics with inventory visibility across their supply chain.
This new system was the key differentiating factor for CSX Logistics to win a contract for the Kuwait Emergency Recovery Program (KERP) after Desert Storm/Shield. We managed to handle the movement of four million items, from 30 countries to Kuwait over a 2 year period.
It was Shar’s vision and expertise that made my vision a reality and I would not hesitate to use him again or to recommend him to others.

My experience with Shar Javad was at GeoLogistics Corporation. He was brought into the company to fix an IS department which was incapable of supporting the business despite its high cost. He quickly assessed the situation and restored the ability to develop software very quickly and efficiently utilizing what proved to be a very effective use of internal and external talent. He addressed the needs of the business, related well with operations personnel as he was fully appreciative of the things they were trying to accomplish. He got it done on time and under budget.
The first thing Shar did was to ask good questions. He listened carefully and probed answers to his questions and made suggestions about ways to accomplish goals more effectively than that which was requested by users. This was coupled with an extremely good work ethic. This work ethic was reflective of the businesses' needs for immediate change and the need within the IS staff to get things done quickly.
Shar used outside people very effectively to supplement the internal staff He retained the design work on systems with a core group of people, including himself, and outsourced the routine aspects of developing software. He was also extremely cost sensitive to the costs of doing business. He addressed redundant and unnecessary costs within his own department and then used the lean and strengthened team to attack every aspect of IT and telecommunications costs. The unique aspect of his work was the absolute focus on success during a period of reduced staffing and developing an esprit de corps within his function which was amongst the best in the company.
The entire organization was pleased with the improvements Shar spearheaded in a relatively short period of time. The plan was developed by Shar and executed with surprisingly good results. If I have an opportunity to use Shar’s services again I would not hesitate to do so without any concerns or reservations.

I engaged Shar Javad/Enterprise Solutions & Technologies to analyze and recommend improvements to supply chain, warehouse and distribution process and technology, including a recommendation for potential outsourcing. Shar was extremely knowledgeable and professional across the entire spectrum of business processes and associated technologies and was very effective in executing the engagement.
Shar analyzed the current operations, documented requirements for a “to be” state, and then documented gaps. The gaps were then prioritized into a target list of activities, which were then consolidated into a project plan. Shar also came up with a list of potential outsourcing vendors, which were short-listed, and were then engaged to run through an RFP process.
Shar was unique in his combination of knowledge in logistics processes, technologies, project management, and bid process. The outcome was a decision not to outsource, but to improve our internal processes in moving towards the “to be” state, and implementation of additional functionality in the existing Distribution and Logistics software.

Shar is very professional, and highly qualified, which allows him to “cut to the chase”, in turn, allowing the client to get to a decision point and implementation of the solution more quickly and at a lower cost.
